Application Process by Types of Aid
Applying for grants, loans and work-study jobs requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid provides students access to financial aid from the state of Illinois if they are ineligible for federal financial aid.
Scholarships are available from a variety of sources and have a different application process.
At Waubonsee, we offer four types of financial aid.
Scholarships
Scholarships are educational funds that do not need to be repaid. Scholarships are available from a variety of sources, including the Waubonsee Community College Foundation and other organizations. They can be awarded based on a variety of criteria including academic achievement, financial need and area of study.
Grants
Grants are education funds that do not need to be repaid. They are awarded by state and federal government, and are often awarded based on financial need.
Loans
Loans must be repaid. Waubonsee students can receive direct loans from the federal government.
Work-Study
Work-Study involves a job on campus, which pays you a salary to help finance your education and other costs. Your FAFSA information determines your eligibility for a work-study job.
