Fiscal Year 2024 has been a truly transformative year for Waubonsee Community College—a year defined by historic milestones and a renewed commitment to our mission of student success and community impact.

I am proud to announce that Waubonsee has joined Achieving the Dream (ATD), a prestigious national network of more than 300 community colleges dedicated to advancing equity and excellence in higher education. As one of only eight institutions selected for ATD’s 2024 cohort, we are embarking on a three-year Foundation of Transformation engagement. Together, we will create more opportunities for all students to succeed and our community to thrive.

This year also marked a pivotal moment in our new Strategic Plan. Our community spoke, and Waubonsee Community College listened. Guided by the valuable input of our diverse stakeholders, we are developing a comprehensive long-term strategic plan to shape the future direction of the institution. Hearing our students, faculty, staff, community and employer partners’ voices and input helped us develop our strategic priorities, captured in the acronym RISE:

REDEFINE
Our Relationship with the Community
INVEST
in Academic Innovation
STRENGTHEN
the Student Experience
ENRICH
the Employee Experience

RISE 2030 represents more than our priorities—it is our collective commitment to elevating the college, fostering growth, and ensuring success for every member of our community. Learn more by visiting waubonsee.edu/Strategicplan.

Exciting changes continue to take shape across our campuses, reflecting our commitment to growth and innovation. One of the most notable developments is the construction of a cutting-edge Technical Education Center at the south entrance of our Sugar Grove Campus. Set to open in fall 2025, this state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for technical training and innovation, empowering our students with the skills and resources needed to excel in today’s evolving workforce. This new center underscores our dedication to providing forward-thinking educational opportunities that meet the demands of our community and beyond.

This annual report highlights the many ways we have fulfilled our mission over the past year, working collaboratively to make a lasting impact on our students and our community. As we look ahead, I invite you to join us on this journey. As Waubonsee Together, we will continue building a stronger, more inclusive future for our students and the communities we serve. Thank you for your partnership and unwavering support in helping us take this next bold step forward.
