Self-Reliance: How Much is Too Much
Life should be hard. Because it is hard, it is meaningful. But also, it should be just a little easier. Certainly, I hear my students’ stories and think about what triumphs they must endure to make this world their own.
Waubonsee’s Move to Alternative Delivery
After spring break this year, the college moved to what we called alternative delivery to allow for remote instruction. An Open Letter to the Graduating Class of 2020
When I was asked to be the 2020 commencement faculty marshal for Waubonsee Community College, I was truly honored because commencement is my very favorite day of the school year. I envisioned myself leading Waubonsee faculty into the Field House followed by each of you as graduates walking in while your family and friends proudly watch. Then the crisis we never saw coming came. Coronavirus changed all of our lives and plans.
Serving College Students In Unprecedented Times
Unprecedented. I feel like almost everything I read anymore has this word somewhere in the first sentence. It’s true. These are unprecedented times for all of us. At Waubonsee Community College we’re very aware of the struggle, not just for us as employees, but especially for our students. In Student Development we are working hard to make sure we can maintain the services students need and want to be successful.

She was concerned because she saw that it was mandatory but didn’t feel comfortable filling it out. She asked me to help her since I was the oldest. What stood out to me was all of the pages on the paper form. I was only a teen so I was confused by all of the questions about my family such as how many of us lived in our home and our ages.
Health Information Technology and the Coronavirus

There are many people working every day to lower the concerns and answer the questions about the coronavirus. Many of those people are health information management (HIM) professionals. With the ongoing spread of the coronavirus, the vital role of the health information professionals has become even more important.
Benefits of Exercise
Popular culture bombards us with messages regarding the benefits of regular exercise. It is widely known that physical activity helps to facilitate weight loss, improves sleep, and reduces the risk of some diseases including: cardiovascular disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. Yet, according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), only 20% of adults meet both cardio and strength training guidelines.
