Session Details:

Unlocking Campus Tools: Library & Tech Essentials

Start your Waubonsee journey with the tools and resources you need to succeed! In this session, you'll learn how to access library services, explore technology resources and equipment available for checkout, and navigate key platforms like your student email and Canvas. We'll help you feel confident using the tools that support your learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Your Support Network: Mental Health and Peer Connections

College comes with new opportunities, challenges, and transitions. In this session, you'll learn about the mental health resources available at Waubonsee and discover how peer mentors can provide support, encouragement, and connection throughout your college experience. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength, and you don't have to navigate college alone.

Student Privacy 101: FERPA & Information Boundaries

As a college student, your educational records are protected by federal law. In this session, you'll learn about FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), what information Waubonsee can and cannot share, who has access to your records, and how you can grant or restrict access when needed. Understanding your rights will help you take ownership of your college experience.

Your College Toolkit: Professional Communication and Support Resources

Knowing how to communicate effectively is an important part of college success. In this session, you'll learn strategies for communicating professionally with faculty and staff, including writing effective emails, participating in office hours, and asking for help when you need it. We'll also introduce you to campus resources designed to support your academic and personal goals.

College Costs Decoded: Your Guide to Financial Aid

Navigate the financial side of college with confidence! Learn about the different types of financial aid available, how the financial aid process works, and where to find support along the way. We'll help you understand the resources available to you so you can focus on achieving your goals, not stressing about finances.

Engage & Excel: Unlocking Campus Involvement

Getting involved on campus is one of the best ways to make connections, build leadership skills, and enhance your college experience. In this session, you'll explore opportunities to participate in student organizations, events, and activities while learning how involvement can contribute to your personal, academic, and professional success.
