Waubonsee Community College Partners with Local Libraries to Offer Free Digital Skills Trainings for Community

Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with the Aurora Public Library District, Kaneville Public Library, Messenger Public Library of North Aurora, Sandwich Public Library District, and Sugar Grove Public Library, will offer free digital skills trainings for students and community members.  

Waubonsee Foundation Scholarship Application Now Open; Priority Deadline Feb. 3

For many students, the cost of higher education can feel like an insurmountable challenge. At Waubonsee Community College, the scholarships provided through the Waubonsee Foundation are making college more accessible, helping students turn academic and career aspirations into reality. 

Waubonsee Offers Free Tax Preparation Services in Partnership with Ladder Up

Waubonsee Community College, in partnership with Ladder Up, will provide free tax preparation services at the college’s Aurora Downtown Campus, located at 18 S. River Street. These services are available to the community on Saturdays, Jan. 25 through April 12, from 9 a.m. to noon on a walk-in basis only, and the site will close when capacity is reached.

Waubonsee Welcomes Dr. Kimberly Chavis as Interim Provost

Waubonsee Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kimberly Chavis, of Plainfield, as the Interim Provost through June 30. 

Two Waubonsee Students Secure Second Place in Global Sustainability Competition

Two Waubonsee Community College students, Briana Harris and Kevin Bustamante Fontanel, of Yorkville, achieved a second-place finish at the University of Illinois’ fourth annual “Reimagine Our Future” sustainability competition. The virtual event took place on December 7, 2024. It featured 250 undergraduate students from colleges and universities worldwide. Harris and Bustamante Fontanel stood out as the only community college students competing on an international stage.  

Waubonsee Hosts Free Music Concerts in December

Waubonsee Community College will host several musical concerts in December. The concerts will feature traditional holiday music and a variety of different musical styles and performing groups. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Offering yet another transfer pathway for students, Northern Illinois University (NIU) and Waubonsee Community College (WCC) announced today the new Waubonsee Excellence Scholarship.

Waubonsee Celebrates First-Generation Student Week

Waubonsee Community College was proud to celebrate First-Generation Student Week from Nov. 4-8, dedicated to recognizing the achievements and challenges faced by students who are the first in their families to attend college. With a series of events and celebrations, Waubonsee honored its first-generation students, along with first-generation faculty and staff.

Waubonsee to Host Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11

Waubonsee Community College will host a Veterans Day observance on Monday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Academic and Professional Center at Waubonsee’s Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. This community event is free and open to the public.  

Join Waubonsee Community College for a Free STEM Week Event, Nov. 7

To celebrate National STEM Week, Waubonsee Community College is hosting a free afternoon of events on Thursday, Nov. 7, including a faculty presentation, open house, and tours of the Sugar Grove Campus’ Science Building.
