Community Connections Workshops

Community Connections Workshops are community-centered gatherings designed for residents, employers, volunteers, civic leaders, and service organizations who are invested in the future of the Waubonsee district.

This interactive workshop brings together Waubonsee Community College and community partners—including nonprofits, chambers of commerce, schools, municipalities, and park districts—to align efforts, share resources, and collaborate on solutions that support local needs.

Crafting Conversations: Planting Seeds of Change (FREE)

Tuesday, April 21 ● 3:00-4:30 p.m.

Create, connect, and grow at this free Crafting Conversations event. Featuring a hands-on potting craft led by the owner of Nide Jardin. Connect with others through meaningful conversation while enjoying light snacks and refreshments.

Banned Book to Movie Club (FREE)

Sugar Grove Campus, Academic and Professional Center (APC), Room 110 ABCD

Celebrate Earth Week at Waubonsee with our Banned Book to Movie Club featuring The Lorax, based on the book by Dr. Seuss. This free community event includes recycled crafts, a pledge wall, photo booth, and a special introduction by Scott Nadeau, Executive Director of the Sugar Grove Park District. Enjoy a sensory-friendly screening with lights on, and bring blankets and chairs for a cozy indoor picnic!

Community Clean-Up Day (FREE)

Saturday, April 25 ● 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Waubonsee students, employees, faculty, alumni, lifelong learning students, and community members are invited to come together for an outdoor hands-on volunteer day focused on protecting and preserving our local environment. Volunteers will help with litter pickup and debris removal along the Fox River and throughout nearby parks and trails. This is a great opportunity for the Waubonsee community and their families to give back, connect with others, and make a visible impact in our district.

WCC Chiefs vs. Sauk Valley Skyhawks Men's Baseball Game at Cougars (FREE)

Saturday, May 2 ● Gates open at Noon ● Game starts at 1:00 p.m.

Cheer on the Waubonsee Chiefs as they take on Sauk Valley at the home of the Kane County Cougars. Enjoy a community resource fair on the concourse and kids activities alongside students, alumni, families, and community members. After the game, kids ages 5+ can play catch on the field with a college player—bring your glove and join the fun!

Join us to walk proudly together in the 2026 Aurora Pride Parade in Aurora —as we show our support for our LGBTQI family, friends, students, colleagues, and allies across the western suburbs and beyond! Students, staff, faculty, and your families are warmly invited to participate and walk with us on Sunday, June 14.
