Attendance

IDPH mandates a minimum number of clinical and theory hours. The course schedule allows for ONE absence from clinical and ONE from theory classes. Repeated unexcused tardiness counts as an absence. Any student who does not meet these IDPH attendance requirements will be withdrawn from NAS 101, without exception.

Clinical Pre-Entrance Requirements

  • Clinical hours are mandatory to complete the program. In order to attend clinicals, students are required to complete:
    • Documentation of current flu season vaccine (August-May)
    • COVID-19 vaccine
      • All students must be, or plan to be, FULLY VACCINATED prior to the first clinical day. NO waivers or exceptions.

Detailed information about these requirements will be provided at the mandatory orientation prior to the start of class.

Becoming Certified

Students must take the IDPH-mandated state examination – the Illinois Nurse Aide Competency Exam (INACE) to become a Certified Nurse Assistant in Illinois. The exam is usually administered one to two months following completion of the NAS101 course. Completing the course does not automatically certify you or register you for the exam.

Documentation of successful course completion will be submitted to IDPH by the course instructor. Students will receive emails from INACE with information for testing. Students must follow the instructions and pass the exam to become certified in Illinois.
