Tuition and Fees.

Tuition at Waubonsee is charged per semester hour and varies depending upon residency. Tuition rates and fees are subject to change and students should anticipate increases in tuition and fees as they continue their education at Waubonsee.


RESIDENCY
Students enrollling in Waubonsee are classified for the purpose of determining fees and tuition as district students, out-of-district students or out-of-state students.
  • District Students
    To qualify as district students, individuals must reside within District 516 for at least 30 days immediately prior to the date established by Waubonsee Community College for classes to begin.

    Students employed by a business in the district for at least 35 hours per week may be granted in-district tuition. These cases are considered individually and students may be required to furnish legal evidence of employment. In these cases, students who are granted in-district fees are not considered district residents.

  • Out-of-District Students
    Students who reside in Illinois for at least 30 days prior to the date established by the district for classes to begin, but outside of Community College District 516, are considered out-of-district students. Students may be required to furnish legal evidence proving residence.

  • Out-of-State Students
    Students whose legal residence is outside of Illinois are considered out-of-state students.

Senior Citizen Policy
District residents 65 years of age and older are eligible for a tuition refund for credit courses in which they were enrolled through the midterm date of the course. Refunds are mailed at the end of the semester. Not all courses qualify for tuition refunds. Courses specifically designed for senior citizens, audits or repeated courses do not qualify for tuition refunds. For more information, contact Admissions and Records, (630) 466-7900, ext. 2370.


COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS & TUITION CHARGEBACK

Cooperative agreements are agreements Waubonsee has with other community colleges that enable students in this district to take certain programs that Waubonsee does not offer.

Chargebacks are for students in this district who want a certificate or occupational degree program not offered by Waubonsee. Chargebacks are not for individual courses.

FEES

Waubonsee charges the following student fees:

Student Fees
The student fee is assessed at a rate of $5/credit hour to all students.
See College Catalog for details. Student fee monies are used to support a variety of educational, scholarship, social, recreational, club and entertainment programs

Laboratory Fees
Certain courses require extra costs for supplies, equipment or services. A lab fee is charged to partially cover this extra expense. Examples are laboratory breakage, welding supplies, data processing supplies, ceramic materials, towel services, etc. These fees are listed in the course schedule booklet.

Cooperative Agreements
Waubonsee Community College has Career EducationCooperative Agreements with several Illinois community collegesso that students may enroll in occupational degree and/orcertificate programs not available at Waubonsee. Students take all specialized courses at the cooperating college. Relatedtechnical and general education courses required in thecooperative programs may be taken at Waubonsee CommunityCollege or at the community college offering the program.The cooperating college issues all degrees or certificates forsuccessful completion of the individual program.

The studentpays the in-district tuition of the offering institution. See“Cooperative Agreements and Tuition Chargebacks” in theTuition and Fees section of this catalog. For further informationabout the program, check with the admissions office at therespective school and contact the office of the WaubonseeAssistant Vice President of Student Development (see directory) for application materials.

Students from other community college districts who want toenroll in a Waubonsee program not offered in their districtshould first contact their own admissions office for the proper forms.

Community Colleges JointEducational Agreement
This agreement allows students to take any Illinois CommunityCollege Board approved occupational program (certificates anddegrees) not offered by Waubonsee Community College at thein-district tuition and fees of the college that offers the program.Students covered under this agreement may avail themselves ofall services provided other in-district students. An authorizationform, signed by a designated representative from the office of theWaubonsee Assistant Vice President of Student Development,will be required for enrollment in all programs.

This agreement is among the following community colleges: Black Hawk College, Carl Sandburg College, DanvilleCommunity College, Elgin Community College, HeartlandCommunity College, Highland Community College, IllinoisCentral College, Illinois Valley Community College, John WoodCommunity College, Joliet Junior College, Kankakee CommunityCollege, Kaskaskia College, Kishwaukee College, Lake LandCollege, Lewis and Clark Community College, Lincoln LandCommunity College, McHenry County College, Morton College,Prairie State College, Richland Community College, Rock ValleyCollege, Sauk Valley Community College, South SuburbanCollege and Spoon River College.
