The FAFSA is used to apply for federal, and state, student financial aid including scholarships, grants, work-study (employment) and loans. The application is free; copies are available from any college. You can also apply (or renew) on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
WHEN TO APPLY?
Apply as soon as possible after January 1 for the academic year that starts on or after July 1. You must reapply yearly. Completing the FAFSA begins the financial aid application process. Refer to Financial Aid for the dates to remember.

HOW IS STATE INFORMATION HANDLED?
State information is integrated throughout the FAFSA. Students wanting to apply for Illinois Monetary Awards (MAP*) and Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) programs should take special note of the following questions:

STUDENT AID REPORT (SAR)
If you file online and provide an email address you will receive a SAR Acknowledgement in the mail in approximately 2 weeks.
